Sportsreach is the Youthreach Sport project that caters for early school leavers aged 16 and over. Although, in exceptional circumstances a child under the age of 16 may be referred by the Department of Education and Science.
Sportsreach is a two year programme that aims to provide the learner with an acceptable level of education and to develop the self-confidence, competence and self-worth of the young person. Every learner is assigned a member of staff to act as their mentor and Psychological Services are provided on a weekly basis.
Breakfast is provided every morning before classes begin and learners receive a weekly allowance. All learners are encouraged to participate in sporting activities on a daily basis. Showering facilities and fresh sportswear are provided each day.
Referrals are accepted from Local Schools, the Education Welfare Officer, Social Workers, the Health Service Executive and Probation Services.
