Restorative Practices Programme
Restorative Practices is an emerging field of study that enables people to build and restore community in an increasingly disconnected world. The RAINBOW Project (Restorative Practices in Ireland and Norfolk- Bettering our Work) will employ restorative approaches to establish, maintain and strengthen relationships as a model of conflict management.
A partnership between Dublin and Norfolk has been developed to explore similarities and differences in each region regarding the use of restorative approaches and practices in schools, communities and specialist provisions. Training is being provided for teachers, parents, Gardai, Youth Workers, and Care Staff in Restorative Practices and it is hoped that this training will help to:
* Develop a new ethos and approach in relation to conflict within the school and the home.
* Develop an understanding of where young people are coming from and what they are coming with.
* Develop a new ethos and approach in relation to conflict within the school
* To learn a practical approach to resolving conflict and to equip children with these necessary skills to move forward
* To find an alternative response to sanctions such as detention and/or suspension
