Youth Work clubs and groups are currently being invited to apply to register with Dún Laoghaire VEC. The Youth Work Act requires the VEC to co-ordinate youth work in the county and all youth groups who want to access grants and support from the VEC must be registered. Registering with the VEC will also give you a voice on the upcoming Voluntary Youth Council and access to information and support. When groups are registered, it will help the VEC to meet youth needs in the entire county and will support our case for additional resources to be provided. Registered groups will be added to the audit of youth work programmes and services which is currently being compiled.
To register with the VEC, groups must fulfill the criteria of youth work. This involves a planned programme of education designed for the purpose of aiding and enhancing the personal and social development of young persons through their voluntary participation. This is complementary to their formal academic or vocational education and training.
This normally includes groups such as the following:
| Youth Clubs | Scouts, etc. | Special interest youth work groups |
| Foróige Clubs | Guides, etc. | Independent youth work projects |
| Youth Theatre Groups | Girls' Brigade | Youth work services and projects |
| Dance Clubs | Boys' Brigade | CYC Affiliated Clubs |
To register your group with the VEC, please click here for a registration form and return the completed copy to the Youth Officer, Aisling Crowley.
