Youth Café

A Youth Café Steering Committee was established in 2007 with representatives from a number of agencies including

  • Dún Laoghaire VEC
  • Southside Partnership
  • Dún Laoghaire Community Training Centre
  • Dún Laoghaire Youth Service
  • An Garda Siochana
  • The HSE

Youth Cafes are safe, alcohol-free places where young people can meet friends, have fun and take part in a wide range of activities. Youth cafes are for young people and run by young people. The Youth Café Committee is comprised of young people from a number of schools in the area. They are provided with leadership and committee skills training to facilitate them in their role during the year.

Events

The Beat Youth Café had ten café nights from September '08-May '09 which saw over 400 young people attending café nights during the year.  Events included:

  • Film Night
  • Gig Night
  • Speed Dating
  • Christmas Party
  • Quiz Nights
  • Summer BBQ and much more.
