A Youth Café Steering Committee was established in 2007 with representatives from a number of agencies including
Youth Cafes are safe, alcohol-free places where young people can meet friends, have fun and take part in a wide range of activities. Youth cafes are for young people and run by young people. The Youth Café Committee is comprised of young people from a number of schools in the area. They are provided with leadership and committee skills training to facilitate them in their role during the year.
The Beat Youth Café had ten café nights from September '08-May '09 which saw over 400 young people attending café nights during the year. Events included:

April 2008 saw the launch of the Feasibility Report on the “Development of a Youth Cafe in the Dún Laoghaire Area” by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Barry Andrews TD. The feasibility study was funded through Young People's Facilities and Services Fund.
