Elderly Groups Invited to Youth Café Night

'The Beat' Youth Café held a Christmas Café night on December 16th and invited groups of older people from the Dún Laoghaire area to attend. The event was a huge success and enabled local active retirement and older person groups to discover what happens on café nights and experience firsthand the value of the youth café in Dún Laoghaire. Drinks and refreshments were provided on the evening as well as festive carol singing by Dún Laoghaire Youth Café Committee member Eric Goulding.

‘The Beat’ Youth Café has been running from St. John of God Carmona Services Training Centre since October 2008. During this time over four hundred young people aged between 15 and 18 have attended café nights. The café was founded by a Youth Café Steering Committee established among representatives from a variety of agencies such as Dún Laoghaire VEC, Southside Partnership, Dún Laoghaire Community Training Centre, Dún Laoghaire Youth Services, An Garda Siochána and the HSE.

For further information on events, please contact Shauna Boyle, 61/62 Mulgrave St., Dún Laoghaire, Tel: 01-2365305, Email: sboyle@ess.dlvec.ie
