Dún Laoghaire VEC is unique in Ireland in that all of its three Colleges are dedicated to FE provision.
Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses are provided to assist school leavers, adults returning to education and those seeking second chance educational opportunities. A wide variety of courses are on offer suiting local and national employment needs.
Recent school leavers who wish to gain professional qualifications and adults who wish to by-pass the CAO/CAS point system and pursue an alternative pathway to certification.
Some courses are scheduled for morning or afternoon only. This is to accomodate existing commitments that students may have. The College offers up-skilling and retraining opportunities for those who haven't studied for a while or for those looking for a new career and a fresh start. Some adults may qualify to retain their social welfare benefit while studying.
College graduates looking to enhance their employment prospects with specific additional skills will find a wide range of career enhancing courses.
Our colleges welcome students of all nationalities. International non-EU students must comply with Irish immigration requirements. Language support is provided for non-English speakers.
College of Further Education graduates gain professional qualifications that are certified and accredited by nationally and internationally recognised examining bodies. Many courses have degree progression options to Universities and Institutes of Technology. Apprenticeship courses in both carpentry and blocklaying take place at Dun Laoghaire College of Further Education.
Dún Laoghaire VEC FE colleges continuously develop new courses in response to the needs of the local and national economy.
These developments are in line with the recommendations of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2006-2013 and the National Skills Report published by FÁS.
